‘Haven presents over twenty new sculptural ceramics alongside a small selection of works cast in bronze, perfect for display outdoors, together with sterling silver statement jewellery. Working on an increasingly ambitious scale and with greater complexity, Rasmussen hand-builds each unique sculpture using the coil technique before carefully paring back the hardened clay, a process that allows her to construct structures without a discernible beginning and end. This exhibition, her fifth with Pangolin London, marks her most direct engagement with nature and reveals the intricate beauty and sophistication of it's flora, fauna, and fossils.
The title of the exhibition draws a thread between the country of her birth and her current home. In Danish, haven translates as 'the garden', whereas in English, haven means a harbour or a place of safety and rest. Together, these dual meanings point to a shared linguistic undertow that affirms the garden as a place of refuge and abundance, informing this deeply personal new direction in Rasmussen's work.’
